15 Vietnamese Nationals Deported from Cambodia for Illegal Stay and Work

PHNOM PENH, August 17, 2026 – Cambodian authorities have deported 15 Vietnamese nationals (five of them women) for illegal stay and employment, following a crackdown on immigration violations in the Kingdom.
The deportation was carried out on August 17 through the Prek Chak international border checkpoint in Kampot province, under the directive of General Sok Vatthana, Director-General of the General Department of Immigration.
According to the immigration department, the individuals were found to be involved in drug-related offenses, overstaying their visas, lacking valid passports, and working illegally in Cambodia. The operation followed instructions from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha.
The deportation is part of the government's ongoing enforcement of immigration laws, consistent with Prime Minister Hun Manet's stated position that Cambodia will not allow criminals or illegal foreigners to use its territory for unlawful activities.
Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to continuing efforts to combat technology-related crimes, dismantle criminal networks, and assist victims of exploitation in returning to their home countries safely.
