357 Families Still Barred From Homes as ASEAN Team Visits An Ses

PHNOM PENH — Oct. 7, 2026: ASEAN observers have inspected the An Ses Border Checkpoint area in Preah Vihear province, where 357 Cambodian families remain unable to return home since the ceasefire.
The field visit took place at 10:24 a.m. on Oct. 7, 2026, at An Ses in Choam Ksan commune, Choam Ksan district, facilitated by Cambodia's Liaison Group for the ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia.
The Ministry of National Defence said that since the ceasefire took effect on Dec. 27, 2025, the Thai military has continued deploying shipping containers, laying barbed wire, digging trenches and building fortifications, destroying infrastructure, homes and civilian property, and illegally occupying Cambodian territory in the area.
The result, the Ministry said, is that 1,114 Cambodian civilians — 357 families, including 711 women and 597 children — remain unable to return home.

Cambodia reaffirmed its position on protecting the international boundary line established by the Indochina-Siam Boundary Commission, citing international law, the principle of Uti Possidetis Juris, the Franco-Siamese conventions and treaties, maps, procès-verbaux and other agreed documents. The Ministry said Cambodia does not recognise any border alteration resulting from the use of force.
The Royal Government and the Ministry reaffirmed their commitment to fully implement the GBC Joint Statement of Dec. 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement of Oct. 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements.
