ASEAN Observer Team Visits Preah Vihear Health Centre Attacked by Thai Forces in December 2025
PHNOM PENH, August 11, 2026 – The ASEAN Observer Team in Cambodia (AOT-KH), led by its Head of Mission from the Philippines, conducted an on-site observation and verification visit at the Techo Morakoth Health Centre in Preah Vihear province on Tuesday morning, according to a statement from the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence.

The visit, coordinated by the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) at 9:30 AM, aimed to observe, verify, and report on the condition of the health centre, which serves as a public healthcare facility for the local population.

The Ministry of National Defence emphasized that the location is not a military site. In December 2025, the health centre was attacked by Thai military forces using F-16 fighter jets, 155mm artillery shells, cluster munitions, and drone strikes, resulting in severe damage to the facility and surrounding infrastructure.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed their commitment to fully and faithfully implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements.

The government stated that these commitments aim to ensure rapid recovery, restore normalcy, and achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
