ASEAN Observers Visit Border Site as Cambodia Reaffirms Commitment to Peace
PHNOM PENH, June 25, 2026 – The Cambodian Coordination Group (CLG) has facilitated a visit by the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to the border area at Prasat Ta Mone Sen Chey Pagoda in Oddar Meanchey province, the Ministry of National Defence announced.

The mission, led by the Philippine Head of Mission, took place on the morning of June 25. The team was deployed to observe, verify, and report on the border situation, with a focus on reviewing compliance with all measures outlined in the Joint Statement following the ceasefire.

According to the ministry's press release, the inspection revealed that civilian infrastructure—including schools, hospitals, pagodas, and homes—was indiscriminately attacked by Thai military forces, causing extensive damage and rendering them completely unusable.
The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence reaffirmed their firm commitment to fully respecting and implementing the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thai General Border Committee of December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement of October 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements.

The commitment aims to ensure rapid recovery and restore normalcy, peace, stability, and security for populations living along the border areas of both countries.
