Australia Eyes Deeper Investment Ties with Cambodia in Agriculture and Beyond

PHNOM PENH, June 25, 2026 – Cambodia and Australia are looking to expand their economic partnership, with senior officials from both sides holding talks on boosting Australian investment in the Kingdom's priority sectors.
The meeting took place on June 24 at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), where H.E. Lim Visal, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Committee, received Ms. Emma McDonald, Australia's Senior Commissioner for Investment and Trade covering Cambodia and Vietnam.
H.E. Lim Visal underscored Cambodia's competitive investment environment and ongoing infrastructure development, including efforts to improve multimodal transport connectivity. He called on Australia to consider direct investments and public-private partnerships in sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, logistics, automotive manufacturing, electronics, and skills development.
Ms. McDonald praised Cambodia's economic momentum and expressed particular interest in the agro-industry sector, especially cashew processing. She reiterated Australia's commitment to working closely with the CDC to promote high-value investments that bring not only capital but also knowledge and technology to Cambodia.
