PHNOM PENH, August 20, 2026 – The Royal Navy's offshore patrol vessel HMS Tamar (P233) arrived at Cambodia's Ream Naval Base on Thursday morning, marking the third visit by a British naval vessel to Cambodia since 2023 and signaling deepening defense ties between the two nations.

Rear Admiral In Sokhemra, Deputy Commander of Ream Naval Base, officially received Commander Tom Lindsey RN and the ship's crew at Pier 2 of the base, with both sides emphasizing the visit's significance for maritime security cooperation and professional exchanges.

According to the Royal Cambodian Navy and the British Embassy in Phnom Penh, the eight-day visit (August 20–27) will focus on joint training exercises between the British and Cambodian navies, technical expertise sharing, and discussions on maritime security cooperation to maintain safety and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

This is the third time a British naval vessel has visited Cambodia since 2023, reflecting the growing military relationship between the two countries.

HMS Tamar (P233) is an offshore patrol vessel with a displacement of 2,000 tonnes, a length of 90 meters, a beam of 13 meters, a draft of 4.3 meters, a height of 33 meters, and a top speed of 24 knots (approximately 44 kilometers per hour).

The presence of HMS Tamar not only symbolizes defense cooperation but is also part of the United Kingdom's strategy to increase its presence and commitment to security in the Southeast Asian region.
