Cambodia and China Partner to Advance AI Media and Fight Disinformation

PHNOM PENH, October 20, 2026 — Cambodia and China have strengthened their strategic partnership in radio and television, placing a strong emphasis on AI technology, digital transformation, and joint efforts to combat fake news.

During the 7th Annual Meeting on Radio and Television Cooperation held on October 19, 2026, in Beihai City, Guangxi, representatives from both nations reviewed recent progress under the "Diamond Hexagon" framework and charted new directions for digital media collaboration.

Highlights from recent joint initiatives include co-produced agricultural and culture documentaries—including the Silk Road Award-winning Beauty of Cambodia—and the deployment of Cambodian technical staff to CMG headquarters in Beijing for long-term training.

To address technological shifts, Cambodian delegates proposed a 2027 AI media training project to upskill local content creators, alongside a direct communication mechanism to verify cross-border information using AI technology. Technical teams from both countries will continue discussions to implement these initiatives through regional and national broadcasting networks.
