Cambodia, Australia Air Forces Discuss Training, Capacity-Building in Sydney Sideline Meeting

PHNOM PENH, September 8, 2026 – Senior air force officials from Cambodia and Australia have held a sideline meeting in Sydney to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, with a particular focus on human-capability development, capacity building, and professional training.
The meeting took place on September 8 during the official visit of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Tea Seiha to Australia.
General Soeung Samnang, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Air Force, led the Cambodian delegation. Air Vice-Marshal Steve Peces, Deputy Chief of the Royal Australian Air Force, represented the Australian side.
Both sides explored opportunities to enhance professional exchanges and institutional cooperation, reaffirming their shared commitment to deepening the longstanding defence relationship and advancing practical cooperation between the two air forces.
The meeting is part of General Tea Seiha's five-day official visit to Australia from September 6 to 10, aimed at strengthening defence ties between the two nations.
