Phnom Penh, June 17, 2026 – Cambodia has expressed strong interest in attracting investment from South Korea's energy and chemical sector, as Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol led a high-level delegation to SK Incheon Petrochem on the afternoon of June 17.

The visit followed the delegation's earlier tour of Hangang Food Company. H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), was warmly received by Mr. ROH Sang Goo, CEO of SK Incheon Petrochem, along with senior management and staff.

Accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister were H.E. Khuon PhonRattanak, Cambodian Ambassador to South Korea; the President of the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry; senior CDC and Ministry of Commerce officials; and representatives from the Cambodian Oknha Association and the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce.

The visit aimed to gain insights into large-scale production chain management, clean energy technologies, and modernisation of the petrochemical industry. SK Incheon Petrochem, established in 1969 as Korea's third oil refinery, currently processes approximately 265,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

During the meeting, H.E. Sun Chanthol encouraged the company's management to explore investment opportunities directly in Cambodia, reaffirming the Royal Government's readiness to provide comprehensive facilitation for foreign businesses to ensure their success and sustainable growth.

The visit provided the Cambodian delegation with valuable knowledge on green industry models and sustainable energy management, which will inform future policy formulation and investment attraction in Cambodia's energy and supporting industries.
