Cambodia Moves to Modernize Social Protection Cash Payments with Banks
PHNOM PENH, July 10, 2026 – Cambodia is taking steps to modernize its social protection cash benefit payments, as technical teams from the National Social Protection Council and the National Bank of Cambodia met with banking partners to discuss leveraging digital infrastructure for faster, more efficient, and transparent delivery.

The meeting took place on July 9, led by H.E. Yok Samedy, Deputy Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for the National Social Protection Council and Head of the Digital Secretariat, alongside technical teams from the Secretariat and relevant departments.

Mr. Men Pheakdey, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate General of Banking Regulation and Financial Inclusion, represented the National Bank of Cambodia, with representatives from ACLEDA Bank Plc. and Wing Bank (Cambodia) Plc. also in attendance.
The discussion focused on gathering inputs to support the drafting of a concept for modernizing social protection cash benefit payments by leveraging existing interoperability mechanisms and IT infrastructure. The initiative aims to promote financial inclusion while making the delivery of social protection benefits faster, more efficient, and transparent.
