Cambodia Moves to Raise Packaging Standards for Global Markets
PHNOM PENH — Sept. 28, 2026: Cambodia is stepping up efforts to lift its packaging standards, opening a three-day industry forum and expo aimed at improving food safety, product quality and export competitiveness.
The Cambodia Packaging Forum and Food Technology Expo 2026 opened Monday at the Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center, organised by the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation with Informa Markets. The forum runs under the theme "Packaging: The Last Mile to the Market."
Minister Hem Vanndy told the opening ceremony that packaging is the next link in the production chain and that its development is vital not only for individual products but for the strength of domestic supply chains and the wider economy.
He said raising standards requires stronger local suppliers, better technical services, expanded research and testing capacity, and closer cooperation between packaging makers and the industries they serve — key conditions for meeting international export and investment requirements.
Sessions cover product protection, packaging design, food safety, standards, labelling, sustainability and consumer confidence, while connecting manufacturers and agro-processors with suppliers, researchers and technical partners.

More than 100 booths are on display at the parallel FoodTec Cambodia 2026 expo, which organisers expect to draw around 5,000 participants.
The Ministry also launched all of its public services on digital platforms at the event.
