PHNOM PENH – May 17, 2026 – Cambodia has been ranked as the world's number one country for natural environment in the 2026 Best Countries rankings by U.S. News & World Report.The Kingdom secured the top position globally, surpassing Seychelles (2nd), Slovenia (3rd), Croatia (4th), Latvia (5th), Albania (6th), Sweden (7th), Costa Rica (8th), Slovakia (9th), and Lithuania (10th).The natural environment metric evaluates how countries balance development with environmental protection, focusing on clean air, biodiversity, forest conservation, and sustainable resource management.In Southeast Asia, Cambodia also ranked first in the region, followed by Myanmar (40th globally), Laos (43rd), Malaysia (56th), the Philippines (57th), Thailand (60th), Indonesia (65th), Vietnam (74th), and Singapore (96th).
