Cambodia Rotates Peacekeeping Troops for UN Mission in Central African Republic
PHNOM PENH, September 9, 2026 – Cambodia has carried out a rotation of its engineering peacekeeping forces serving under the United Nations flag in the Central African Republic, with 184 troops departing for the mission and 184 returning home.
The handover ceremony took place on September 8 at Techo International Airport, presided over by Brigadier General Sem Ratana, First Vice President of the National Committee and Acting Director General of the National Peacekeeping Centre.
The outgoing Multirole Engineering Company 486, which included 17 female peacekeepers, completed its mission and returned to Cambodia. Their replacements, the Multirole Engineering Company 864, comprising approximately 30 female peacekeepers, departed to take up their duties in the Central African Republic.
The rotation demonstrates Cambodia's continued commitment to UN peacekeeping operations, with female peacekeepers playing an increasingly prominent role in the Kingdom's contributions.
Cambodia has deployed more than 10,700 peacekeepers to UN missions in 10 countries since 2006.
