Cambodia Takes on Key UN Role as Vice-Chair of LDC Group Bureau
PHNOM PENH, September 3, 2026 – Cambodia has been endorsed to take on a key leadership role within the United Nations system, serving as Vice-Chair of the Bureau of the Least Developed Countries (LDC) Group for a three-year term from September 2026 to September 2029.

The endorsement came during an ambassadorial meeting of the LDC Group at UN Headquarters in New York. Ambassador Keo Chhea, Cambodia's Permanent Representative to the UN, thanked member states for their trust and commended Nepal for its strong leadership and contributions during its tenure as Chair.

Ambassador Keo Chhea affirmed Cambodia's commitment to working closely with the incoming Chair, Gambia, and other Bureau members to amplify the collective voice of LDCs and advance shared priorities. A key focus will be preparations for the Mid-term Review of the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA), set to take place in Doha in March 2027.
