PHNOM PENH – May 26, 2026 – Cambodia's tourism sector is set for a major push as Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many threw his support behind the industry during a high-level meeting with the Cambodia Tourism Association (CATA) on Tuesday morning.

The Deputy Prime Minister, who also serves as Minister of Civil Service Cambodia, met with CATA President Chhay Sivlin and her delegation to discuss ways to accelerate the recovery and growth of one of Cambodia's most vital economic sectors.
Both sides agreed on the urgent need to strengthen hospitality, expand promotions, enhance human resource training, deepen understanding of tourist behavior, and create quality services that keep visitors coming back.

The meeting comes at a critical time for Cambodian tourism, which is striving to regain momentum after years of disruption. The collaboration between state institutions and the private sector is seen as the key to unlocking the industry's full potential.

As a highlight of the meeting, CATA President Chhay Sivlin formally invited Deputy Prime Minister Hun Many to preside over the association's 30th anniversary celebration, scheduled for June 10, 2026.
The discussion took place in a warm and cooperative atmosphere, raising hopes for stronger public-private partnership that will help tourism once again become a driving force for Cambodia's economy.
