Cambodia, UN Rapporteur Discuss Rights Report Ahead of Council Session

PHNOM PENH — Oct. 1, 2026: Cambodia and the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Cambodia have discussed his forthcoming report to the 63rd Session of the Human Rights Council, with both sides reaffirming the value of continued constructive dialogue and cooperation on human rights.
H.E. Ke Sovann, Cambodia's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva, met Mr. Thomas Andrews on Sept. 30, 2026.
The Ambassador briefed the Special Rapporteur on Cambodia's history and national context, including how decades of conflict shaped the country's emphasis on peace, stability, development and human rights.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, with Cambodia requesting continued attention to the rights of displaced Cambodians and their safe and dignified return home.
