Cambodia, Vietnam Sign Agreement for Friendship School Expansion


PHNOM PENH — Oct. 6, 2026: Cambodia and Vietnam have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship School project, funded by the Vietnamese Government and people.

The agreement was signed in Ho Chi Minh City on Oct. 5, 2026, with Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng and Lieutenant General Vo Van Dien, Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Command, participating.

The project covers new construction and renovation within the school compound: 80 new classrooms, a laboratory and a computer room for the primary school; 24 classrooms, a laboratory and a computer room for the lower secondary school; and renovation of 15 existing classrooms. It also includes a multi-purpose sports building, an administrative building and equipment, serving more than 5,500 teachers and students.

The initiative was launched during the state visit to Cambodia by H.E. To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam, earlier in 2026.
