Cambodian Peacekeepers Train in Vehicle Operation Ahead of UN Mission in CAR

Phnom Penh, July 16, 2026 – Cambodian peacekeepers are undergoing intensive training in vehicle operation, command, and maintenance as they prepare for rotation to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Central African Republic.
On July 16, H.E. Major General Heng Thu, Deputy Director General of the National Peacekeeping Centre responsible for standards management, materials, and techniques, visited trainees at the PKO Training School in Kampong Speu province.
The trainees are members of the 864th Multidisciplinary Engineer Unit, who are honing their skills in operating, commanding, using, and maintaining vehicles and machinery in preparation for their upcoming UN mission.
Photo Credit: Smd ScopeDuring the visit, Major General Heng Thu observed practical exercises on the operation and command of the SRC300T crane model, connecting theory with practice in line with previous training provided by the manufacturer.
The Deputy Director General conveyed greetings from H.E. General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, and the Acting Director General of the National Peacekeeping Centre, and encouraged the trainees to continue training with a high sense of responsibility.
He emphasised the importance of adhering to UN technical standards to ensure mission effectiveness, and highlighted the need for regular maintenance, proper storage, and cleaning of all vehicles and equipment to guarantee safety and operational efficiency.
