Cambodian Youth Engage with Women, Peace and Security Agenda at Model UN Briefing
PHNOM PENH — Sept. 16, 2026: Young delegates at the Phnom Penh Model United Nations 2026 have taken part in a briefing on the Women, Peace and Security agenda, hosted with the United Nations in Cambodia and focused on the role of women as agents of peace.

The session welcomed H.E. Kosal Malinda, Deputy Director-General of the National Peacekeeping Centre (NPMEC), who shared Cambodia's experience in international peacekeeping and offered perspectives on the contribution of women peacekeepers serving in the field.

UN Women also joined the briefing, providing delegates with an overview of the WPS agenda and UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which recognised the distinct impact of conflict on women and girls and called for their fuller participation in peace and security efforts.

The event was held in partnership with the Institute for International Studies and Public Policy (IISPP) at the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

Organisers expressed thanks to H.E. Kosal Malinda, NPMEC, UN Women and IISPP, and to the students whose engagement shaped the discussion.
