CDC Encourages 2026 Scholarship Recipients to Become Cambodia's Future Leaders and Goodwill Ambassadors
PHNOM PENH, August 21, 2026 – The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has hosted a courtesy meeting with 16 Cambodian scholarship recipients who will pursue higher education in Europe under various prestigious scholarship programmes.

The meeting, held on August 20, was chaired by H.E. Hoeurn Somnieng, Deputy Secretary General of the CDC's General Secretariat, who offered congratulations and guidance to the awardees. The scholarships were provided by the French Government's Bourse France Excellence, the European Union's EU-AFD, the Pierre Fabre Foundation, and the EU's Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters programmes.

H.E. Hoeurn Somnieng commended the scholars for their dedication and academic excellence, urging them to maximize their learning through research, innovation, and emerging technologies. He emphasized the importance of transforming into strong human capital to drive Cambodia's future socioeconomic development.
The Deputy Secretary General also encouraged the recipients to serve as goodwill ambassadors for Cambodia, promoting the nation's cultural heritage, political stability, economic dynamism, and favorable investment climate to the international community.

For the 2026–2027 academic year, 13 recipients (10 Doctoral and 3 Master's candidates) have been awarded scholarships by the French Government, the EU, and the Pierre Fabre Foundation, while 3 recipients have secured Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarships. Their fields of study include Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Food Technology, Biology, Pharmaceuticals, Health Sciences, Computer Science, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.
