Croatia Visit Yields Diplomatic Passport Visa Waiver, Academy Cooperation Deal

PHNOM PENH — October 20, 2026: Croatia's Foreign and European Affairs Minister, H.E. Dr. Gordan Grlić Radman, concluded a two-day official visit to Cambodia on Tuesday, with the two sides signing agreements on diplomatic passport visa exemptions and cooperation between their diplomatic training institutions, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said.
Following morning bilateral talks, Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn and H.E. Dr. Grlić Radman signed an agreement exempting holders of diplomatic passports from visa requirements, and a memorandum of understanding linking Cambodia's National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations with the Diplomatic Academy of Croatia's foreign ministry.
The ministry said the ministers welcomed the long-standing bonds and close cooperation between Cambodia and Croatia, which this year marks 30 years since diplomatic relations were established. Their discussions covered expanding engagement in trade and investment, agro-industry, transport and logistics, education, tourism, demining, and people-to-people connections.

Both sides reaffirmed their intention to work more closely through multilateral platforms to promote lasting peace, stability, and sustainable development, guided by the principles of multilateralism and respect for international law. As part of the exchange, H.E. Prak Sokhonn provided an update on the situation along the Cambodia–Thailand border.
The statement did not elaborate on the substance of the border update or set out a timeline for bringing the signed documents into force.
