Energy Minister Keo Rottanak Reaffirms Support for ASEAN Power Grid

PHNOM PENH, July 24, 2026 — Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rottanak has reaffirmed Cambodia's support for the ASEAN Power Grid, saying greater regional electricity connectivity would strengthen energy security and accelerate Southeast Asia's clean energy transition.
Speaking to Bloomberg Television, Minister Keo Rottanak said Cambodia believes an integrated regional electricity market would allow ASEAN countries to share resources more efficiently while reducing the cost of decarbonization.
He said Cambodia views the ASEAN Power Grid as a key component of regional resilience, enabling member states to capitalize on each country's comparative advantages in electricity generation.
"Cambodia is a strong advocate of the ASEAN Power Grid," the minister said. "We believe ASEAN can become more resilient by working together through regional energy integration."
