Foreign Man Detained After Thai Woman Dies at Chiang Mai Resort
PHNOM PENH, September 2, 2026 – A foreign man has been detained after a 26-year-old Thai woman died following an alleged assault at a resort in Mae On district, Chiang Mai, near the popular Mae Kampong attraction.
Police responded to a report of a physical assault at approximately 2:30 AM on September 2 and found the woman, identified as Alosinee, in critical condition. She was transported to Mae On Hospital but died from her injuries en route.
Bloodstains were found inside the room, particularly around the bed and bathroom. Officers reportedly recovered a pair of brass knuckles fitted with sharp metal spikes from the accommodation.
The resort owner told police that Alosinee had checked in with a foreign man on the evening of September 1. They had booked the room for three nights. Resort workers reported hearing a heated argument followed by a cry for help. When they went to check, the foreign man opened the door, then reportedly left the room naked and rode away on a motorcycle.
The foreign man later crashed the motorcycle into a sedan and a pickup truck. He was detained at the crash scene and was reportedly in a dazed state, unable to provide a statement. Police have not confirmed his involvement in the woman's death, and his identity has not been publicly released. The case remains under investigation.
