H.E. Pen Bona Urges Officials to Defend Peace as Cambodia's Greatest Achievement

Phnom Penh, October 27, 2026: H.E. Pen Bona, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesperson, has called on information officials to actively defend Cambodia's peace and social stability, describing them as an invaluable achievement that must not be taken for granted.

Addressing a training course on "Strengthening the Effectiveness of Spokesperson and Information Work" in Pursat on Oct. 27, H.E. Pen Bona said growing global uncertainty and conflict have made people and leaders value peace more than ever. Cambodia, he noted, has maintained the peace it won at great cost for nearly three decades, bringing unprecedented benefits to the nation and its people.

He said spokesperson and information officials play an essential role in preserving those gains by rebutting inciting and distorted information spread by extremist groups intent on undermining stability. Where necessary, he added, officials must clarify such claims so citizens are not misled, while also proactively promoting the value of peace and the achievements it has delivered.

H.E. Pen Bona pointed to two factors behind Cambodia's enduring stability: leadership that understands the past and has stood firm in defending peace, and a well-informed public that values tranquillity and backs the government. He said extremist opposition groups and their propaganda networks, which seek to divide Khmer society and undermine peace, find themselves increasingly isolated as public support fades.

"All of us must continue contributing to protecting peace and the great achievements of the Royal Government by providing truthful information to citizens, neutralising false or inciting information, and continuing to expose groups that want to destroy peace and groups that serve foreign forces encroaching on our territory," he said.

The event was attended by H.E. Mok Ra, Chairman of the Pursat Provincial Council, who delivered remarks, and Pursat Governor Khuoy Rida, along with provincial council members, deputy governors, senior administration officials, district and city governors, departmental leaders, the three armed forces and other officials—more than 200 participants in all.
