Human Rights Chief Keo Remy: Preah Vihear Damage Seen Firsthand, Patriotism Needs Action Not Boasting

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 20, 2026: H.E. Keo Remy, Senior Minister and President of the Cambodian Human Rights Committee, has said that patriotism demands real awareness and action rather than sitting and drinking while claiming to love the nation, recounting a firsthand witness account of damage at Preah Vihear Temple.
In a social media post, H.E. Keo Remy said that immediately after the ceasefire, a man named Sothy told him he had travelled to Preah Vihear Temple to witness the destruction caused by Thai soldiers, at a time when unexploded ordnance remained scattered around and on the temple.

Keo Remy said, noting a photograph had been withheld for a long time to avoid the enemy seeing it at the time.
He said the information was shared with the public so that the truth would be known, and that leaders at every level of the Royal Government are working hard on the territorial issue.
