NONTHABURI – May 28, 2026 – A deputy spokesperson for Thailand's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) was arrested after allegedly driving drunk and killing a motorcyclist, dragging the victim's body approximately 500 meters down a road in Nonthaburi province, according to a report by Thai Enquirer.
Jarong Kromor, acting deputy spokesperson for the NACC, was taken into custody following the 10:30 PM crash on the Bang Rak Noi overpass. Police reported that his blood alcohol level measured 189 milligrams percent — nearly four times Thailand's legal limit of 50 milligrams percent.
The victim, 43-year-old Sornarin Nakongsi, suffered a severed left arm and died at the scene. The pickup truck's tire burst from the impact, and the vehicle was found approximately 500 meters from where the victim's body came to rest.
Witnesses alleged that Jarong attempted to flee, tried to switch drivers, and invoked his status as a senior government official, telling police "I have connections" with local authorities following the crash, according to Thai Enquirer.
Bang Sri Mueang police confirmed that legal proceedings are continuing. The victim's body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Science for an autopsy.
An anti-corruption official now faces corruption of a different kind — not bribery or graft, but the lethal arrogance of drinking and driving, then allegedly trading on his badge to escape accountability.
