Japanese Giant Lion Corporation Eyes Cambodia for Factory Investment

PHNOM PENH, July 13, 2026 – Japanese consumer goods giant Lion Corporation is exploring the possibility of establishing a manufacturing facility in Cambodia, as the company seeks to expand its production footprint in the ASEAN region.
The interest was discussed during a meeting on July 13 between H.E. Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and a delegation from Lion Corporation led by Mr. Takenobu Yamamoto, Director of International Business.

The company currently operates production bases in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia within the ASEAN region.
H.E. Chea Vuthy welcomed the company's interest and highlighted the Royal Government's ongoing efforts to improve the investment climate through infrastructure development and support measures for the private sector. He encouraged the company to make a swift decision and consider locating its investment within a special economic zone.
The meeting reflects growing Japanese investor interest in Cambodia as a competitive manufacturing destination in the region.
