Korean Air Partners with Thai Aviation Industries for Black Hawk MRO Cooperation

Korean Air Partners with Thai Aviation Industries for Black Hawk MRO Cooperation
PHNOM PENH, September 3, 2026 – Korean Air and Thai Aviation Industries (TAI) have signed a strategic partnership agreement to collaborate on depot-level maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of the Royal Thai Army's UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.

The agreement, signed at Korean Air's Tech Center in Busan, also includes plans to expand cooperation to other military aircraft operated by Thailand's armed forces. Under the deal, Korean Air will provide technical training and support TAI in standardizing military aircraft maintenance processes.

Korean Air's aerospace division has extensive experience with the Black Hawk, having secured a license to produce the helicopter for the Republic of Korea military in 1991. The company has continued to provide depot-level MRO for the type and recently secured a $705 million contract to upgrade 36 South Korean Army UH-60P Black Hawks for special operations.

Thailand operates 31 Black Hawk family helicopters across its three military services. The partnership aims to combine Korean Air's maintenance expertise with TAI's local network to strengthen Thailand's military aviation capabilities and expand into the Southeast Asian MRO market.
