National Defence University Strengthens Military Education Ties with Australia and France

PHNOM PENH, July 15, 2026 – The National Defence University has held separate working meetings with Australian and French defence officials this week, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening international cooperation in military education.
On July 14, H.E. Lieutenant General Dok Sopha, Rector of the National Defence University, welcomed Major Stuart Patterson, Australian Defence Cooperation Education Officer to Cambodia, for a courtesy call and working discussion. Both sides reviewed the progress of bilateral military education cooperation to date and explored new initiatives and future cooperation plans to further enhance the partnership.
The previous day, on July 13, the rector held a working discussion with Lieutenant Colonel Olivier Legrand, Head of the French Defence Cooperation Mission in Cambodia. The meeting reviewed past achievements in military education cooperation and discussed various initiatives to be implemented in the near future, with both sides expressing a shared commitment to deepening their collaboration.
The two meetings reflect Cambodia's growing engagement with international partners in defence education, as the National Defence University continues to strengthen its ties with Australia and France to build a more capable and professionally trained military workforce.
