Philippine Army Delegation Visits Cambodia to Boost ASEAN Observer Team Mission

PHNOM PENH, September 15, 2026 – A Philippine Army delegation led by Lieutenant General Entero S. Nasism, Deputy Inspector General, met with General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, on Tuesday morning to discuss strengthening military ties and improving the effectiveness of the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) mission in Cambodia.
General Vong Pisen thanked the Philippine government and its Ministry of National Defence for contributing AOT forces to Cambodia, which have played a key role in verifying and monitoring the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
The Commander-in-Chief also provided the delegation with a detailed briefing on the current situation along the Cambodia-Thailand border, giving the visiting officials a clearer picture of conditions on the ground.
Lieutenant General Nasism, in turn, reaffirmed the Philippine side's commitment to continuing its monitoring role within the AOT and to enhancing the team's operational effectiveness. He stressed that reducing tensions and ensuring the ceasefire is fully respected remain essential priorities.
