PHNOM PENH – May 29, 2026 – Prime Minister Hun Manet has stated that the "Day of Reckoning" program serves as a reminder of the experiences and events Cambodia has endured since the past, particularly in 2025, a year marked by pain, hardship, and injustice. The goal is to transform those experiences into a force of solidarity and national unity to strengthen the nation and safeguard peace.
The Prime Minister emphasized that "Day of Reckoning" reminds all Cambodians that risks to peace and national stability can arise at any time if vigilance and preparedness are lacking. Therefore, everything Cambodia has gone through serves as a valuable lesson, urging everyone to remain united and grow stronger. "Khmers must remember, Khmers must resolve, Khmers must act," he said.
The Royal Government of Cambodia, under the Prime Minister's leadership, has declared an unwavering commitment to defending territorial integrity and sovereignty at all costs, grounded in the principle of the rule of law, including international law, treaties, conventions, and binding agreements that remain in force.
Even if there is only one percent of hope, Cambodia will continue to use every available mechanism to ensure peace, stability, and the protection of the lives of its soldiers and civilians, avoiding any renewed bloodshed.
