PM Hun Manet Hails Cambodia-China Relations as 'Ironclad Friendship' and Strategic Partnership
PHNOM PENH, July 17, 2026 – Prime Minister Hun Manet has praised the strong progress of Cambodia-China relations, describing the two nations as comprehensive strategic partners and "ironclad friends."
The Prime Minister made the remarks during bilateral talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on July 16 in Beijing, on the sidelines of his working visit and participation in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference from July 15 to 17.
Premier Li Qiang expressed delight at meeting Prime Minister Hun Manet again and noted the frequent exchanges and active communication at all levels and across all sectors, reflecting the strength of bilateral relations. He emphasised that China and Cambodia are "ironclad friends" and that China considers its relationship with Cambodia a diplomatic priority.
Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed deep gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Chinese government and people. He reaffirmed Cambodia's unwavering commitment to the One China Principle, considering Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Tibet as internal affairs of China.

Both leaders exchanged views on initiatives and future directions to deepen cooperation in key sectors, including politics and diplomacy, economy and trade, infrastructure connectivity, green energy, agriculture, defence and security, and people-to-people exchanges, particularly in tourism and education.
Prime Minister Hun Manet also briefed Premier Li on the latest developments in the Cambodia-Thailand border situation, emphasising Cambodia's commitment to resolving border issues peacefully, based on international law and in accordance with existing conventions, treaties, and agreements between Cambodia and Thailand.
