PM Hun Manet Inaugurates 198km National Road 10, Cambodia's Highest Bridge
PHNOM PENH — Oct. 1, 2026: Prime Minister Hun Manet has inaugurated National Road No. 10, a 198.51-kilometre corridor linking Samlot in Battambang, Veal Veng in Pursat and Khemarak Phoumin city in Koh Kong, including Cambodia's tallest bridge.

Speaking at the ceremony in Veal Veng district on Oct. 1, the Prime Minister said the road connects the country's northwest to the southwestern coast and marks the transformation of a former conflict zone into a development corridor under the Win-Win Policy of former Prime Minister Hun Sen, now President of the Senate.

The project was launched in 2020 under Hun Sen and then-Chinese Ambassador Wang Wentian, with financing under a China-Cambodia cooperation framework alongside the national budget.

Hun Manet thanked the people and Government of China for their support across all sectors and for pledges of continued grant aid and concessional loans, and pointed to the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with Cambodia's Pentagonal Strategy as central to the Diamond Cooperation partnership and the building of a Cambodia-China community with a shared future.

The 90-metre bridge has been named "Techo Peace Bamboo Bridge" in recognition of Hun Sen's role in national unification and development, and was built with more than US$25 million from the national budget.

The Prime Minister said the road, built as a DBST Highway Grade III with two lanes in each direction, will cut transport distances by roughly 306 kilometres from Battambang to Koh Kong, 230 kilometres from Pursat to Koh Kong, and 372 kilometres from Pailin to Koh Kong — reducing shipping and travel costs and boosting tourism. Pursat residents heading to Kampong Som, he noted, can now bypass Phnom Penh entirely.
