PM Hun Manet Welcomes Russian Automaker's Interest in Cambodia Investment

PHNOM PENH, June 19, 2026 – Prime Minister Hun Manet has welcomed the interest of Russian automotive giant GAZ Group in exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia, following a meeting on the sidelines of the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan.
During the June 18 meeting, Export Director Dolgov Leonid briefed the Prime Minister on GAZ Group's extensive operations. With nearly 90 years of experience, the company operates 15 factories, exports to 43 countries, and maintains 240 distribution representatives across the globe. Its product lineup includes commercial vehicles, medium-duty trucks, buses, emergency vehicles, and automotive parts.
Leonid noted that GAZ Group is already active in several ASEAN markets and sees Cambodia's rapidly growing and resilient economy as an attractive destination for further expansion. He expressed the company's strong interest in investing in the Kingdom's automotive sector.
In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet reaffirmed the Royal Government's commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, highlighting policies and mechanisms designed to support foreign investors. He encouraged the company to consider investing in supply chain production under the "Plus 1 Strategy," which would allow GAZ Group to integrate its operations with existing regional manufacturing networks.
The Prime Minister also invited GAZ Group to engage in further discussions with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to move forward with concrete investment plans.
