Samdech Hun Sen Warns of World Cup Fatigue, Urges Road Safety
PHNOM PENH, June 30, 2026 – Samdech Hun Sen, President of the Senate, has called on Cambodians to stay safe on the roads as the FIFA World Cup 2026 keeps fans awake through the night.

In a Facebook post on June 30, Samdech Hun Sen commented on the tournament's unpredictable results, noting that several traditional European powerhouses have already been eliminated by teams from South America and North Africa.

"The ball is truly round," he said, acknowledging the outcome that has surprised many watcher.

He also pointed out that late-night matches—played from midnight to early morning—have disrupted daily routines, leaving many workers exhausted. "People working in the morning are less active because they are sleepy and have been watching football," he observed.

Samdech Hun Sen urged all drivers to stay alert and avoid getting behind the wheel if they feel tired. "If you are sleepy, do not drive—it could lead to accidents," he cautioned.
