'Say No to Fake News' Campaign Expands to Students in Pursat Province
PHNOM PENH, July 17, 2026 – The Ministry of Information's "Say No to Fake News" campaign has expanded to Pursat province, reaching nearly 1,000 students at Preah Mluor Secondary and High School in Bakan district.

The campaign, now in its second phase, was officially launched on May 18 under the theme "Strengthening Information and Media Literacy for Information Security." The Pursat event was held on July 17 and presided over by H.E. Tep Asnarith, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Information, representing Minister Neth Pheaktra, alongside H.E. Nheak Ban Kheng, Deputy Governor of Pursat province.

Addressing the students, H.E. Tep Asnarith emphasized that in a rapidly evolving digital world, fake news has become a serious threat affecting national security, social order, and individual reputations, while also misleading young people. He stressed that the campaign is not just about general education but about building a defense system through enhanced media and information literacy.

He encouraged students to be critical thinkers before sharing any information, asking themselves: "Where does this information come from?" "Is there a clear official source?" and "Does it benefit or harm society?" He noted that the ability to analyze, question, and resist misleading content is the sharpest weapon against disinformation.

Deputy Governor Nheak Ban Kheng expressed strong support for the campaign, noting that understanding real information is part of maintaining public security and order for sustainable development.

The campaign is currently being implemented in 12 provinces and will continue to expand across the Kingdom throughout 2026.
