BANGKOK – May 27, 2026 – A fourth-generation heir to Thailand's Singha beer dynasty has come forward with a devastating accusation: he was repeatedly raped by his own biological brother. The allegation has sent shockwaves through the kingdom's elite circles and raised uncomfortable questions about the hidden darkness behind Thailand's aristocratic and royalist family structures.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post published on May 25, Mr. Siranudh Scott, a member of the powerful Boon Rawd family — long associated with Thailand's conservative establishment and royalist networks — posted an emotional video earlier this month accusing his older brother, Mr. Sunit, of repeatedly sexually abusing and raping him between the ages of 9 and 13.

"I felt that I had to speak out, otherwise I would surely die a living death," the 29-year-old heir said.

The Boon Rawd family is no ordinary business dynasty. The Singha beer brand is deeply intertwined with Thailand's traditional power structure, enjoying close ties with the military, the monarchy, and the aristocracy. For decades, the family has been celebrated as a pillar of Thai prestige and nationalism. This scandal now threatens to tarnish not just the family name but the carefully cultivated image of moral superiority that surrounds Thailand's elite.
Siranudh revealed that he first told family members about the abuse three years ago but accepted a financial settlement in exchange for silence. He decided to speak out after his mother filed a property dispute lawsuit against him this year, which he called "the breaking point."
"I live in a family, a system, and within an institution that has silenced my voice," he said.

His brother Sunit has denied the allegations, but the family has already removed him from his executive position. Meanwhile, Siranudh's courage has encouraged others to come forward, breaking a long-standing taboo in Thai society where criticism of powerful families — and by extension, the broader royalist-aristocratic system — is often met with severe consequences.

The scandal has ignited fierce debate across Thai media and social platforms, with many asking: if this is what happens behind closed doors in one of Thailand's most honored families, what other secrets are being protected by wealth, status, and connections to the highest levels of power?
