Spokesman: Cambodia Pressing Its Claim Over Thai-Occupied Land, Citing Croatia Talks

PHNOM PENH — October 24, 2026: Cambodia is working "as actively as possible" to resolve the border question and press its claim over territory Thailand occupies illegally, H.E. Pen Bona, spokesman for the Royal Government, said on 23 October, pointing to recent diplomacy as evidence of the government's engagement.
In a statement on the Cambodia–Thailand border situation, H.E. Pen Bona said Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet raises the border at every forum, at home and abroad, so that the world understands the facts. He said the government has not forgotten the demand for the illegally held territory "for a single second," describing its work as continuous — every hour, every second, in defence of Cambodian land.

The spokesman cited the visit of the Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs on 19–20 October 2026, during which H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, briefed his counterpart on new developments along the border and reaffirmed Cambodia's commitment to a peaceful resolution through dialogue and consistent with international law.
Turning to domestic critics, H.E. Pen Bona said some extremist opposition figures repeatedly invoke the border to accuse the government, calling such claims slander driven by political opportunism and unsupported by facts.
