Thai Munitions From Border Conflict Add New Contamination to Cambodian Land, CMAC Warns

Phnom Penh, November 3, 2026: The Cambodia-Thailand border conflict has scattered new Thai munitions remnants across Cambodian territory, compounding older war debris and deepening hardship for Cambodians, H.E. Heng Ratana, Director of the Cambodian Mine Action Centre (CMAC), told a government-development partner meeting on Nov. 2, 2026.
Addressing the Technical Working Group on Mine Action (TWG-MA) at the Oakwood Premier Hotel in Phnom Penh, H.E. Heng Ratana said the conflict has created fresh challenges on top of existing contamination, adding to the economic and social burden on the Royal Government and Khmer society.
