Thai Opposition Files No-Confidence Motion Against PM Anutin and 17 Ministers
PHNOM PENH, Oct. 13, 2026: Thailand's opposition has filed a no-confidence motion against 18 ministers, including Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, at the Thai parliament on Oct. 8, 2026.

The motion was led by opposition leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut, president of the People's Party, and carried the signatures of 145 members of parliament, according to The Nation.

Natthaphong said the opposition wants to scrutinise what he called the "Blue regime," accusing the administration of expanding control over the country's institutions and creating a serious threat to democracy.

He said the motion covers allegations of corruption in the selection of senators and in examinations for sub-national administrative officials, as well as the government's handling of crises affecting the public, including flooding.

Following widespread reporting of the motion, the official Facebook page of the People's Party announced that the no-confidence debate against the government of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul under Article 151 of the Constitution will take place soon in parliament.

In a Thai-language post on Oct. 12, the People's Party invited the public to examine the allegations against the 18 ministers currently holding power in the country's administration and to follow the deeper revelations behind the government's work.

The party said the ministers' conduct in office has reflected serious errors in the management of the country's administration, a clear lack of integrity, and the improper use of power and position for personal, factional and grey-capital network interests.

It alleged collusion in using power to interfere in the justice process and independent institutions, and to undermine constitutional checks and balances in order to create impunity, entrench corrupt practices to control political institutions and allow corruption to spread widely. It also accused the government of failing to address economic crises, allowing prices to rise to the point where citizens bear a heavy burden while capital groups and patronage networks benefit from the national budget.

The People's Party said the debate is not merely a matter for parliament, warning that allowing these individuals to continue leading the country's administration would cause serious damage to the nation and its people that would be difficult to repair.

The party invited the public to follow the debate, which it said will take place soon.

According to The Nation's Oct. 8 report, the 18 ministers named in the motion are:
