Tourism Ministry Responds to Falling Arrivals With Six Key Strategies

PHNOM PENH — Oct. 7, 2026: Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism has publicly acknowledged a decline in international tourist arrivals and said the Ministry is responding with recovery programmes, tax incentives and six key strategies.

The statement follows widespread online discussion about the state of Cambodia's tourism sector and the struggles of operators, traders and communities reliant on the sector.

The Ministry pointed to Royal Government intervention programmes, including a tourism recovery initiative in Siem Reap, continued support measures and tax incentives. The Ministry also cited the six key strategies and the "Visit Cambodia in Green Season" campaign, which aim to boost domestic travel and diversify international markets.

The Ministry said the Ministry will continue publishing information on the sector's situation, the measures being taken and verifiable results, so the public can assess progress on an informed basis.

The Ministry invited feedback from experts, operators, content creators and the public, calling such input valuable and a chance to strengthen cooperation under the slogan "Tourism for all, all for tourism."
