UK, Cambodia Deepen Cooperation Against Online Scams
PHNOM PENH — Oct. 8, 2026: UK Home Office Minister Lord Hanson has pledged closer cooperation with Cambodia and international partners to combat online fraud, disrupt criminal networks and protect people from exploitation.

Speaking during a visit to Cambodia, Lord Hanson said the UK is working with the Kingdom on the issue, according to the British Embassy.

Lord Hanson noted that scam operations create victims not only in Cambodia but across Europe, the United Kingdom, Australasia and the world at large. Lord Hanson stressed that the action is a visible sign of the Cambodian Government's commitment and of the partnership between the United Kingdom and other authorities in tackling these centres.

The Embassy said the harm caused by online scams extends beyond money — damaging trust and affecting families and communities, and often exploiting young people drawn into criminal networks.

Both countries said the partnership focuses on protecting vulnerable people and building a safer future for the next generation.
