US and IOM Help Rebuild Homes for Families Hit by Border Crisis
PREAH VIHEAR – May 15, 2026 – Families whose homes were damaged or destroyed during the recent border conflict are receiving urgent shelter support, as the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United States government launch a new recovery project in Preah Vihear Province.

The "Advancing Peace and Stability for Crisis-Affected Communities in Cambodia" project provides shelter repair kits — including corrugated iron and carpentry assistance — to help affected households rebuild safer and more dignified living environments. Special attention is given to vulnerable groups, including women with young children, older persons, and people with disabilities.

"With this corrugated iron, I can finally repair my roof and make my home safer again," said Srey Oun from Choam Ksant District, Preah Vihear Province. "The old roof was badly damaged, and whenever it rained or strong winds came, it would tear apart. I'm very grateful to the organization for supporting families like ours."

Additional distributions are scheduled in Oddar Meanchey and Banteay Meanchey provinces in the coming weeks.
