Water Ministry and CDRI Join Forces to Advance Research and Policy in Water Sector
PHNOM PENH, July 20, 2026 – The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has formalised a strategic partnership with the Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI) through a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening research collaboration and policy development in the water sector.

The signing ceremony, held on July 20 at the ministry, was presided over by H.E. Dr. An Pich Hattha, Secretary of State, representing Minister Thor Chetha. The MoU was signed by H.E. Serei Pundit, Under Secretary of State, and Dr. Eng Netra, Executive Director of CDRI.

In his remarks, H.E. Dr. An Pich Hattha described the agreement as a framework for long-term cooperation that will connect scientific research with public policy formulation and implementation. He highlighted the importance of evidence-based decision-making in addressing Cambodia's water challenges.

The partnership will focus on joint research initiatives, policy dialogue platforms, knowledge and information exchange, capacity building, and knowledge development. Key priorities include water resource management, river basin governance, climate resilience, and flood and drought risk reduction.

The Secretary of State called for swift implementation of concrete activities, with clear action plans aligned with national priorities to strengthen institutions, improve water security, and support sustainable development.
